Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Announces Fair Price for Sugarcane, Addresses Farmer Welfare and Maratha Reservation

Kolhapur, Nov 22 – Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Tuesday that the state government will pay the fair and remunerative price for per tonne sugarcane for this year’s crushing season, following the policy of the central government.

After offering prayers at Shree Mahalaxmi temple, he shared that the government has implemented various measures for farmers’ welfare, including a Rs 50,000 incentive under the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule loan waiver scheme. Despite ongoing protests by sugarcane farmers, the government remains committed to adhering to the central government’s policy on sugarcane prices for this season.

To address the issue, a committee chaired by Kolhapur district collector Rahul Rekhavar has been formed by the government.

On the ongoing Maratha reservation matter, Shinde affirmed the government’s dedication to fulfilling assurances given to Maratha leader Manoj Jarange-Patil. He assured that the government would provide reservation to the Maratha community, standing firm in the court of law.
