Hyderabad, Nov 20: Telangana Minister and BRS working president, KTR, assured to develop a women-exclusive manifesto during a Women Interaction program held at a private hotel on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering, KTR stated that the women’s manifesto would be created by women, encouraging them to contribute ideas regarding government services that cater to their needs. He announced the operation of free shuttle services from Metro stations, especially during nights, to enhance passenger convenience.
KTR pledged to present a women-exclusive manifesto and outlined plans to extend loans to women entrepreneurs in manufacturing and service sectors in urban areas at significantly lower interest rates.
During the meeting, KTR highlighted the BRS government’s achievements, including the establishment of WE-Hub and four exclusive women’s industrial parks. He mentioned Sultanpur, Nandigama, and Koheda as examples, and specified that 10 percent of plots in industrial parks are reserved for women in Telangana.
Addressing safety concerns, KTR mentioned the government’s effort in drafting a cybercrime legislation, making Telangana the first state to implement such legislation. The legislation aims to hold offenders accountable for outraging the modesty of individuals on social media.
KTR announced plans for an exclusive toll-free number for women to lodge complaints, which will be monitored by the government. The complaints will be routed to different departments for appropriate action.
The Minister highlighted Telangana’s achievements in providing safe drinking water to 10 million homes within a short span of 9.5 years. He discussed the State government’s efforts to address issues such as the sale of girl children, forced marriages of young girls to old Arab nationals, and challenges in obtaining safe drinking water for children in Nalgonda.
To tackle these issues, the BRS government established 200 minority schools, with around 1.15 lakh students, including 50,000 young women. KTR emphasized the State government’s focus on healthcare, leading to increased institutional deliveries, a decline in infant and maternal mortality rates, and the success of initiatives like Streenidhi.
KTR commended Telangana’s Streenidhi as a model for other states, as it empowers women in rural areas through interest-free loans provided by the government. He highlighted achievements such as Kalyana Lakshmi, the women’s university, and the Amma Vodi program.
Additionally, KTR announced collaboration with a private company to produce vaccines for women with negative blood groups, aimed at reducing mortality rates during pregnancy. He expressed admiration for the mental fortitude and strength of women, qualities he believes men often lack.
