Nov 03: Virat Kohli, in today’s match against Sri Lanka, achieved a commendable score of 88 runs off 94 balls. It was anticipated that he would match the remarkable record of Sachin Tendulkar, India’s master blaster, by securing his 49th century in ODIs.

Unfortunately, he fell short by a mere 12 runs at the Wankhede stadium. Consequently, the fans of Virat Kohli were left astounded by this outcome.

Virat Kohli, while unable to match Sachin’s 49 centuries, surpassed another significant milestone set by Sachin Tendulkar.

Specifically, Virat Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record of scoring over 1000 runs in a single calendar year in ODI cricket. Sachin Tendulkar had achieved this feat in 7 calendar years, whereas Virat Kohli has now accomplished it in 8 calendar years in ODIs.

In the recent ODI cricket match against Sri Lanka, Virat Kohli achieved his 70th half-century, breaking the record previously held by Kumar Sangakkara, a former Sri Lankan batsman. Kohli now holds the record for the most half-centuries (non-opener) in World Cup history, with a total of 13, surpassing Sangakkara’s 12 half-centuries.

After Shubman Gill’s dismissal at 92 and Virat Kohli’s dismissal at 88, Shreyas Iyer played a remarkable innings, scoring an unbeaten half-century to guide India beyond the 300-run mark.

In Sri Lanka’s bowling attack, Dilshan Madushanka proved to be a formidable force, taking 4 wickets in India’s top order.
