Kanpur Engineer Dies After Hair Transplant; Doctor Booked for Negligence
A 37-year-old assistant engineer from Kanpur’s Panki power plant, Vineet Kumar Dubey, died days after undergoing a hair transplant procedure at a private clinic in March. The incident came to light after his wife, Jaya Tripathi, filed a complaint, prompting police to register a case of medical negligence against the doctor.
Tragic Turn After Cosmetic Procedure
Vineet, a native of Gorakhpur, lived with his wife and two children in the officers’ colony of the power plant. On March 11, his wife left for Gonda with their children. Two days later, Vineet visited a clinic in Kalyanpur, run by a city-based MBBS doctor, for a hair transplant.
On March 14, Jaya received a distressing call from an unknown number informing her that Vineet had facial swelling and was being taken to the hospital. The call ended abruptly, and further attempts to reach the number or the doctor were unsuccessful. Concerned, she requested her uncle in Kanpur to check on Vineet.
Vineet’s condition worsened, and he was shifted to Regency Hospital, where he died on March 15.
Negligence Case Registered
Following his death, an FIR was registered at Rawatpur police station under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with death due to negligence.
ACP Abhishek Kumar Pandey of Kalyanpur confirmed that statements have been recorded from individuals who referred Vineet to the doctor. “Further action will depend on the outcome of the investigation,” he said. The doctor has been summoned but is yet to appear before the police.
The case remains under investigation, with authorities examining the circumstances of the procedure and the delay in obtaining proper medical care. No arrests have been made so far.
