In anticipation of traffic disruptions during the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled for September 9 and 10 in New Delhi, IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has introduced a temporary waiver for travelers on its flights to and from the city.

This special waiver, applicable from September 8 to September 11, 2023, grants passengers the freedom to reschedule or cancel their flights with the assurance of receiving full refunds.

As New Delhi readies itself to host the prestigious G20 Summit, headquartered in the neighboring tech hub of Gurugram, IndiGo has taken proactive measures to assist travelers during the anticipated traffic constraints resulting from the summit.

The one-time waiver, spanning four days from September 8 to September 11, 2023, is designed to provide flexibility and alleviate concerns for passengers affected by the G20 Summit. IndiGo’s valued customers can opt to adjust their flight schedules or cancel their bookings while being eligible for full refunds.

A statement from the company emphasizes, “In light of the G20 Summit 2023 taking place in New Delhi, IndiGo is extending a one-time waiver to passengers traveling to and from Delhi between September 8 and 11, 2023. Customers are given the choice to reschedule or cancel their flights with refunds. Passengers have been informed in advance about any flight cancellations and schedule adjustments. For any further inquiries, passengers are encouraged to contact our customer care hotlines at 0124 6173838 or 0124 4973838.”

IndiGo’s compassionate gesture mirrors a similar initiative by Air India, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, which has also provided a one-time waiver to travelers scheduled to fly to or from Delhi between September 7 and 11.

Although the G20 Summit will not result in a formal lockdown in Delhi, the city is anticipated to witness heightened security measures, including traffic restrictions. However, alternative transportation options are available for citizens seeking to access the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport or navigate the capital. The Delhi Traffic Police recommends the use of the Metro, which will operate as usual during the two-day summit, with the sole exception of the Supreme Court station, inaccessible due to its proximity to the summit venue. For those opting for private vehicles, the Delhi Traffic Police has advised specific routes to facilitate travel throughout the city’s road network during this period.
