
Ranchi, Nov 3 — The Indian Women’s Hockey Team continued their unbeaten streak at the Jharkhand Women’s Asian Champions Trophy Ranchi 2023 with a commanding 5-0 victory over Korea in their last Pool match on Thursday night.
Scoring for India were Salima Tete (6’, 36’), Navneet Kaur (36’), Vandana Katariya (49’), and Neha (60’).
The win secured India’s top spot in the points table, amassing 15 points from five matches, while Korea concluded their group stage campaign in fourth place with seven points from five games. Both teams are set to clash again in the Semi-Finals as per the standings.
India initiated the game with an aggressive high-pressing strategy, resulting in an early lead by Salima Tete (6′). Despite dominating possession and creating numerous opportunities, India held a narrow 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, Korea attempted a comeback, but India swiftly countered with Navneet Kaur (36′) and Salima Tete (36′) extending the lead to 3-0. The final quarter saw Vandana Katariya (49′) and Neha (60′) adding two more goals, securing a resounding 5-0 triumph.
India will face Korea again in the second Semi-Final on November 4 at 20:30hrs IST. The Indian team continues to showcase their dominance at the tournament, remaining unbeaten so far.
