An Indian tech professional has shared that she feels much happier living in London compared to Bengaluru, despite the high cost of living in the British capital.
It's been couple of months living in London, and I am in general, happier.

I can't point at what exactly has been game changer, but it's an overarching feeling 🙂
Sayani B, a software engineer, posted on X about her move to London a few months ago, explaining that she feels generally happier, although she can’t pinpoint the exact reason. “It’s been a couple of months living in London, and I am generally happier. I can’t identify what exactly has changed, but it’s an overall feeling,” she wrote.
People in the comments shared their thoughts on why she might be feeling happier. Many suggested that the cleaner air in London could be a factor. One user commented, “London is the most beautiful city I’ve visited. Walkable neighborhoods are something we can’t imagine in Indian metro cities. Glad you’re enjoying it.” Sayani agreed, adding, “Yes, and I don’t have to worry about cars or buses running me over every time I cross the road. Everyone follows traffic rules.”
Others also mentioned missing London’s walkable streets, clear air, parks, and diversity. However, some pointed out that the English weather can be harsh, with one user commenting, “Surprised the awful weather hasn’t affected you. London would be much happier if the weather was kinder this time of year.”
Discussions comparing life in India to life abroad often appear on social media. Earlier this year, a couple of IIT graduates who spent ten years abroad gained attention for sharing their views on the differences in lifestyle when they returned to India.
