Indian-Origin Man in Singapore Wins $1 Million in Lucky Draw

An Indian-origin man in Singapore became a millionaire overnight after winning a massive prize of US$1 million (over ₹8 crore) in a lucky draw.

Balasubramanian Chithambaram, a project engineer with 21 years of experience in Singapore, won the grand prize during a lucky draw organized by Mustafa Jewellery on Sunday, November 24. The event, held at the Civil Service Club @ Tessensohn, was part of the jewellery store’s annual celebration. Customers who spent S$250 or more at the store qualified for the draw.

Balasubramanian had bought gold chains for his wife before the draw, which he described as a blessing on the fourth anniversary of his father’s passing.

“I couldn’t believe it when I heard the news. Winning on my father’s death anniversary feels like a blessing,” he said.

The jewellery store shared a video of the event on Instagram, captioned: “What an unforgettable day at Mustafa Jewellery’s Million Dollar Event! On 24th November, we witnessed history being made as the grand winner of USD 1,000,000 was revealed amidst cheers and excitement!”

Plans for the Winnings

Balasubramanian plans to share the good news with his mother and donate part of his winnings to the Singapore community to show gratitude for his time in the country. He also intends to save for his children’s future and let his wife manage the remaining amount.

The lucky draw wasn’t just about the grand prize. Other participants also won monthly prizes of $5,000, adding to the joy of the event.
