For many students in India, getting into an IIT is a big dream and a proud achievement. However, one IIT graduate faced criticism online after trying to show off in a playful way.

In a Reddit group that shares memes about JEE and NEET, a photo of a car stuck in traffic was posted. The car had a sticker on it that said, “You are chasing an IITian, but that’s okay. We’re used to it.” This sparked strong reactions, with most users feeling embarrassed and calling it “cringe.”

One comment read, “This is giving so much second-hand embarrassment,” while another joked, “Even Harvard graduates introduce themselves without saying Harvard. They just say, ‘I went to a school in Boston.’”

Some users poked fun at the car itself, saying the sticker didn’t match the car type. “IITian hoke bas Innova? Where’s the Audi, BMW, or Lambo?” wrote one user.

Another user said, “Super cringe. Only low-key people flex like that. Please tell me this is edited.”

Even an IIT graduate commented on the post, saying such behavior makes him uncomfortable. “I’ve honestly stopped sharing where I study because of people like this,” he said.

Another user added that it’s hard for IITians not to let IIT define their identity, sharing a personal story: “My uncle even put IIT next to his son’s name on his daughter’s wedding invitation.”

The post quickly went viral, with users criticizing the sticker and calling it unnecessary.
