Prez Murmu commands HPS’s inspirational legacy and recognition

Hyderabad, Dec 21 – President Droupadi Murmu praised the significant impact of Hyderabad Public School (HPS) in inspiring countless students and bringing substantial recognition to the country.

During her address to students and alumni at the conclusion of the centenary celebrations of HPS in Begumpet, here on Tuesday President Murmu remarked, “This school has nurtured many remarkable individuals who have achieved greatness. Celebrating a centenary is a significant milestone for any institution, and over the course of 100 years, academic institutions can encounter numerous challenges. Drawing from its rich experiences, Hyderabad Public School empowers students to become resilient decision-makers. The school’s commitment to academic excellence and character-building is commendable. HPS has not only inspired numerous students but has also earned great recognition for the country.”

Expressing pride after exploring the school’s museum showcasing its illustrious history, President Murmu acknowledged HPS’s emphasis on innovation and critical thinking, which forms the bedrock of students’ education. She appreciated the school’s inclusive environment, encouraging students from diverse backgrounds to study together and learn from each other. President Murmu stressed the importance of integrating life skills, as outlined by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, into the curriculum to foster technical skills and emotional strength for facing crises. Encouraging compassion, empathy, and a commitment to the progress of others, she urged students to consistently pursue their passions, serving as a source of inspiration for others.

Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan acknowledged the school’s contribution to producing leaders in various fields, including MPs, MLAs, banking, CAs, and lawyers. She envisioned future MPs, Governors, and leaders emerging from the current student body. Noting the transformation from being a reserved institution to serving students from diverse backgrounds, the Governor highlighted the school’s role in contributing to the development of the state and the country.

Dr Soundararajan emphasized the alignment of the school’s ethos with the message of the National Education Policy, focusing on experiential learning and encouraging students to extend beyond the classroom into sports, social activities, and the open stage. Commending the school’s theme of ‘Be Vigilant,’ she underscored the equal importance given to academics and athletics, considering them as the two eyes of academic institutions.
