Hyderabad, Oct 17: In a significant operation, the Telangana State Narcotic Bureau (TSNAB) in collaboration with the Bollaram Police apprehended four individuals on Tuesday and confiscated a substantial 1000 kgs of Ganja from their possession.
During the operation, police also impounded a DCM van, one car, and four cell phones, with a total estimated value of around Rs 3.5 crore.
With an eye on the coming assembly elections, TSNAB sleuths, working alongside Bollaram Police, were conducting vehicle inspections at the Bollaram Checkpost when they intercepted the main suspect, Sakaram Rathod (35) of Santosh Nagar, Bidar, Karnataka, along with Ahmed Khan (27), a lorry driver from Jamgi, Bidar, Karnataka, Digambar Ramu Pawar (30), a lorry cleaner hailing from Velapur, Bidar, Karnataka, and Ajay Ramavtar Chaurasiya (39) of Shastri Nagar, Thane, Maharashtra.
The suspects were apprehended while in the process of transporting Ganja from Malkangiri, Odisha, to areas in Bidar and Mumbai, as stated in a police statement.
The authorities are continuing their in-depth investigation into the matter, the release added.
