Shimla, Nov 11: Himachal Pradesh High court on Friday took suo moto coginzance of a complaint filed by a Palampur businessman against state Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu.
A Division bench of Chief Justice M.S. Ramchandra Rao and Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua issued notice to the state of Himachal Pradesh impleading the Home Secretary, Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police Kangra and Shimla as respondents in the matter.
The Court took notice of the complaint submitted to Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao by businessman Nishant Kumar Sharma of Palampur.
On Nov 5, an FIR was lodged at police station Shimla against the businessmen, who countered it by filing a volley of complaints in the matter to the President and Prime Minister, besides the Governor, the Chief Minister and the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh and the Home Secretary.
The high court during the day issued a notice to the state to submit the status report to the court before the next date of hearing on November 16.
During the hearing, the court issued notices to top officials to file a status report on the matter by the next date of hearing.
On Wednesday Chief Secretary Prabodh Sexsen stated that the state Criminal Investigation Department would make an assessment if security cover should be extended to Businessman Nishant Sharma on his complaint.
