Shimla, Nov 20: The Himachal Pradesh government has stated that it will not extend the lease of
Wildflowers Hall hotel to Oberoi Group of Hotels and attached their 118 estates to the state government property.
Talking to media during cabinet briefing on Saturday, Industry Minister Hareshvardhan Chauhan said that despite the move to take back possession, the state government would no longer keep this prime property with the East India Hotels (EIH) Limited.
He further said that the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government would not hand over further lease of Wildflowers Hall to hospitality company in public interest.
He further said that the state government has won a two-decade-old legal battle and Arbitration awards were announced in favour of the state government and Tourism secretary on November 17, 2023 has passed an executive order to take back the property to Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, as IAS officer Mansi Sahai is appointed administrator of the property and hospitality unit.
He further said that the government would vacate the stay from Himachal Pradesh High Court, as a single-bench of Justice Satyan Vaidya issued status quo on eviction order of Nov 18.
A division bench of Himachal Pradesh High Court in October 2022 had ruled in favour of state government and announced the arbitration award in favour of the Himachal Pradesh government.
