Srinagar, Dec 9 – As the Supreme Court is to deliver its verdict on Monday on pleas challenging the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution, a high level meeting of Police and civil officers was held in Srinagar on Friday to discuss law and order situation in Kashmir.


The meeting was chaired by Additional Director General of J&K Police (ADGP) Law and order Vijay Kumar.
A police spokesman said the joint meeting was attended by all the District Magistrates and Senior Superintendents of the Police of Kashmir division for the first time at Police Control Room Kashmir. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, IGP Kashmir, DD IB, DIGs of all the ranges of Kashmir, DIG CID and SSP PCR Kashmir also attended the meeting.


The ADGP asked the officers to take preventive and punitive actions under the law against those who indulge in “mischief, misinformation and misuse” of social media.
Kumar stressed upon the officers to keep an eye on the situation and don’t let mischievous elements to vitiate the peace and harmony.
During the meeting, the officers briefed the chair on the prevailing law and order and security scenario and shared the field generated inputs with respect to all the expectedly emerging situations in view of upcoming events.
He stressed that miscreants and mischievous elements shouldn’t be allowed to vitiate peace and harmony.


He also got briefed about prevention of incidents and directed to anticipate different scenarios and accordingly plan an effective response for the same.
All DMs and SSPs were asked by the ADGP and Div Com Kashmir to conduct meetings with field officers and other stakeholders.
ADGP L&O sensitized them about the calibrated response to be taken in case of any untoward scene emerging out of the situation.
