Pune, Dec 11 – Deputy Chairperson of Maharashtra Legislative Council Neelam Gorhe met injured victims of the Pimpri-Chinchwad fire tragedy being treated at the government run Sassoon Hospital here.
She interacted with the seriously injured on Saturday night and assured them of all help from the government.
Eight people lost their lives and many labourers were injured after the fire broke out at a candle factory in Pimpri-Chinchwad on Friday.
Gorhe also held a meeting with government officials directing them to provide all necessary medical help to the injured persons.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has already announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to families of each of the deceased. He has also given instructions to treat the injured at government expense.
Gorhe further said the Disaster Management Department should undertake a campaign in the Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area in order to respond immediately in disaster situations. She directed that the Municipal Corporation, Industries Department should conduct a campaign to prevent such incidents in future.
