Paris, Oct 23: In response to the heightened tensions in the Gaza Strip, France has announced plans to evacuate over 100 of its citizens residing in the region. Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna emphasized the need for a ceasefire agreement to establish a humanitarian corridor for the safe evacuation of individuals.

“We maintain contact with French families living in the Gaza Strip. About 100 French people and their families are now there. We are making every effort to ensure that they can go away from this dangerous zone with the ongoing bombing … We look forward to helping them leave,” stated Colonna in an interview with La Tribune newspaper.

The minister stressed the importance of directing efforts against Hamas, the Palestinian group responsible for the conflict, while also underscoring Israel’s obligation to respect international law, particularly regarding the protection of civilians.

As the situation unfolds, France remains committed to providing assistance to its citizens in the region and advocating for a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
