Etawah (UP), Nov 16: – A sleeper coach of Vaishali Express, running between Delhi and Saharsa, caught fire in the Friends Colony area of Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh, leaving 19 people injured. The incident occurred around 2:30 am on Wednesday night when the toilet of the S6 coach caught fire, causing panic among passengers.
Government Railway Police (GRP) sources reported that 19 passengers sustained injuries, and they were taken to the district hospital. Eleven passengers facing breathing issues were referred to the Medical University in Saifai, while the remaining eight are being treated at the district hospital.
Circle Officer (CO) GRP Uday Pratap Singh mentioned that the fire broke out for unidentified reasons, and no loss of life has been reported. Emergency Medical Officer (EMO) Dr. Raghvendra at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Government Hospital stated that the injured passengers were brought to the hospital, with 11 being referred to Saifai Medical University.
The incident follows another fire in a train in Etawah district less than 24 hours earlier, where three coaches of Darbhanga Express caught fire, injuring eight passengers.
