Ukraine Deploys US-Made ATACMS Missiles Against Russian Forces in Unprecedented Move

Kiev, Oct 18: In a significant escalation of the conflict, Ukraine deployed Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) to target Russian troops near Luhansk and Berdyansk on Tuesday. This marks the first use of the US-supplied long-range missiles in the ongoing conflict, as reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources.

The United States, in a covert operation, recently delivered a limited number of surface-to-surface missiles to Ukraine. This strategic move aims to equip Kiev with a formidable long-range strike capability against Russian forces engaged in the counteroffensive. The ATACMS variants provided have an impressive range of approximately 100 miles (160 km).

Despite the sensitive nature of the transfer, the US has not officially announced the delivery of these extended-range missiles.”
