
Mahoba (UP), Nov 1: In a dramatic turn of events, two criminals were arrested in Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh after attempting to flee from police custody. The incident occurred when the police were taking five arrested individuals to the district hospital for a medical examination.
The trouble began in Nakra village on Monday following the death of a minor boy who was hit by a roadway bus. Agitated villagers blocked Rath Road, leading to disruptions in traffic. While the police were trying to pacify the protestors, some anti-social elements reportedly attacked Sub-Inspector Ram Avatar.
Following these incidents, the police arrested five people in connection with the disturbances. However, as the arrested individuals were being taken to the district hospital, two of them managed to snatch a rifle from the police personnel and tried to escape. In response, the police engaged in a brief encounter, injuring the two criminals in their legs. The injured individuals, identified as Darshan Singh and Monu, were subsequently admitted to the district hospital for treatment.
During the encounter, a Sub-Inspector and two police personnel sustained minor injuries. The Superintendent of Police (SP) Aparna Gupta has ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident.
