Hyderabad, Nov 17: BJP National Executive Member and Telangana State Election Management Committee Chairman Eatala Rajender on Thursday alleged that BRS Spuremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) have been making false claims that Telangana ranks first in the country in term of per capita consumption of electricity.
In a release here, Eatala said that all these days, KCR boasted that Telangana tops the country in terms of per capita power consumption but the recently published annual report of Central Electricity Authority (CEA) states that Telangana ranks 10th in the per capita consumption of electricity.
So, for all these years, KCR has been making false claims that Telangana ranks first in the country in terms of per capita consumption of electricity. Thus, KCR stands exposed with the publication of the report by CEA, he said.
According to the annual report of CEA, six states and three union territories are ahead of Telangana in per capita consumption of electricity. Goa ranks first followed by Punjab and Orissa in per capita electricity consumption. Even the union territories of Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman Diu, and Puducherry are ahead of Telangana, said Eatala, the MLA, who is contesting against KCR from Gajwel.
After the formation of Telangana, the growth rate of electricity consumption was lower than that of the combined state, he said that the power supply in the state has increased due to the completion of construction of various power projects in the country and the electricity problems all across the country have been solved due to the increase in coal supply.
Because of this, there are no power supply problems or power cuts in more than 20 states of the country. The credit for this goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, because of his visionary approach, sufficient electricity is being generated and also supplied at the pan-India level, the BJP leader claimed.
There are no new power projects that have been completed in Telangana in the last nine and half years of KCR’s rule, he alleged and said in fact, there is a serious problem in all the Discoms in the state. They all are in complete debt as they are not paid by the state government for whatever supply the Discoms are doing.
Thus, on one side KCR has ruined the Discoms and on the other side, his false claims stand exposed after the publication of the CEA report, Eatala added.
