Mumbai, Nov 25: The bail application of Chetan Singh Chaudhary, a dismissed Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable involved in the tragic shooting incident aboard the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Superfast Express in July, is scheduled for another hearing on December 1.

Chaudhary, who shot and killed four people, including his senior officer, Assistant Sub-Inspector Teekaram Meena, has moved a bail application before the Dindoshi court in the city suburb. Advocate Amit Mishra, representing the constable, revealed that partial arguments were presented during the recent court session.

The defence, in its bail plea, contends that Chaudhary has been suffering from haunted illusions of the ghostly world, engaging in peculiar behaviors. The court has sought the opinions of both the investigation officer and the Public Prosecutor, and the next hearing is set for December 1.

The tragic incident unfolded on July 31, 2023, around 5 AM, aboard the Mumbai Central–Jaipur Superfast Express. Apart from Assistant Sub-Inspector Teekaram Meena, the victims included three passengers identified as Qadarbhai Bhanpurwala, Asgar Ali, and Sayed Saifuddin alias Saif. The circumstances surrounding the shooting have raised questions about the constable’s mental state, adding complexity to the legal proceedings.
