Davanagere, Oct 28: Congress MLA Ravikumar Gowda on Friday said that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will become chief minister after two-and-half years of Siddaramaiah government’s tenure.

“It is a guarantee that he (Shivakumar) will surely become chief minister after two-and-half years. He has laboured hard for the party. There is no confusion in this regard, but the opposition is spreading canards in the media,” Gowda said.

Replying to a query whether power-sharing agreement was reached, he said he does not know anything about it, but is certain that Shivakumar is becoming CM in two-and-half years of this government’s term.

However, Gowda lauded Siddaramaiah, saying he has been doing a good job by implementing the five guarantee schemes that are benefiting them.

The opposition is spreading canards as it is afraid of Congress winning 20 Lok Sabha seats in the 2024 general election, but these efforts will not succeed, Gowda said.

Asked if Siddaramaih will have to resign to make way for Shivakumar as CM after two-and-half years, he said it is not relevant now to talk about it.

Soon after the Congress party inflicted a huge defeat on BJP in the assembly election by winning 135 seats, Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar laid claim for the CM’s post.

Ultimately, the party high command managed to convince Shivakumar, and reportedly arrived at a two-and-a-half years of power-sharing formula to douse the incendiary political situation.

Shivakumar was announced as Siddaramaiah’s deputy for the first two-and-a-half years of the Congress rule.

Gowda also said evidence of documents and videos would be released in public, exposing a team that worked for the removal of Congress-JDS government, trying to lure Congress legislators to destabilise the present Congress government.

“They have been told that a flight will be arranged to fly them to Delhi, where they will meet Amit Shah. They have been also told that some Congress legislators are already in touch, and made them to hear certain phone conversations to make them believe in it. There is a team working on it. We have evidence for it and we will reveal it,” he alleged.

Gowda alleged that former CM BS Yediyurappa’s PA is behind these activities, and four Congress legislators had already been approached.

These developments have been brought to the notice of Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, and some of the party legislators also revealed about it, he said.

Gowda alleged that Rs 50 crore is being offered, along with the minister post and other things, and there is evidence for it.
