Mumbai, Oct 30: In a recent interview with a private electronic channel, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized the ongoing comprehensive investigation into the Lalit Patil drug mafia escape case. Fadnavis assured the public that no one involved will escape justice if found guilty.

Fadnavis revealed that Lalit Patil, the main accused in the Pune drug trafficking case, had been undergoing treatment at Sassoon Hospital for over four months. The hospital’s dean, Dr. Sanjeev Thakur, had previously refrained from discussing the matter, citing confidentiality. However, recent revelations from seized medical records in the prisoner’s ward have brought startling information to light.

Taking a swipe at the Shiv Sena (Thackeray group), Fadnavis pointed out that Lalit Patil was the Nashik district chief of Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena at the time of his arrest in 2021. Fadnavis expressed his commitment to a thorough investigation, stating that no one will be spared. He has informed the Chief Minister of his decision and warned that any police personnel directly implicated will face dismissal.

Expressing deep concern about the rising prevalence of narcotic drugs over the past 15 years, Fadnavis highlighted the formation of anti-drugs committees in each state and district. He reiterated his single-line agenda for a drug-free Maharashtra and urged the police to prioritize this goal.
