Delhi Police team in Kolkata to probe Parliament attack

Kolkata, Dec 19 – A three-member Delhi Police team arrived here on Monday to investigate the contact and connection of Lalith Jha, the alleged mastermind of the December 13 security breach in Parliament.
Jha, the prime accused in the case, has been arrested, official sources said.


The crime branch of the Delhi Police Special Cell already, in association with Kolkata Police, soon after the arrival in the city visited the house on 218, Rabindra Sarani in Burrabazar in Central Kolkata where Jha used to stay, sources added.


Sources said Jha then earned a living by giving private tuition. Jha, who surrendered at the Kartvaya Path police post in Delhi on December 14 night, has been described by the Delhi police as the alleged “mastermind” behind the Parliament security breach case In the Lok Sabha.


Jha was now in the police custody following a court order there.
Jha had destroyed phones belonging to the other accused persons, and “disclosed” the “motive” behind the group’s actions.


Jha, accused of uploading a video of the December 13 protest outside Parliament on Facebook and Instagram, also reportedly sent the videography to two of his companions in Bengal.
Sources said the Delhi Police would also visit other places in the city where Jha had contacts.
