New Delhi, Nov 28 – The Special Cell of Delhi police arrested two sharpshooters from East Delhi’s Mayur Vihar after an encounter in which one accused sustained gunshot injury on his right leg, police said on Monday.
Both the accused were tasked to assassinate a singer for which they made an attempt in October this year at Bhatinda but could not be successful as the the singer was not found at home, claimed police.
The duo, identified as Rajpreet Singh (25) alias Raja and Virender Singh (22) aka Vimmy, are sharpshooters of international gangster Arshdeep Singh alias Dalla. They were arrested on the main road towards Akshardham Mandir opposite Samachar Apartment in Mayur Vihar area after a brief exchange of fire.
During the encounter, five rounds were fired by the accused persons following which in retaliation the police fired six rounds on the accused in which one accused Virender Singh sustained gunshot on his right leg.
One .45 mm revolver with 6 live cartridges and another .30 mm pistol with 7 live cartridges along with a hand grenade and a stolen bike were recovered from the possession of the accused persons, police said.
Accordingly a case under section 186/353/307/34 IPC, 4/5 Explosive Substances Act and 25/27 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Special Cell NDR.
