Jaipur, Nov 22: The Congress, in preparation for the upcoming November 25 Assembly election in Rajasthan, unveiled its manifesto today, just four days before the polls.
Led by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasara, Assembly Speaker C P Joshi, and other party leaders jointly presented the manifesto.
Key highlights of the manifesto include a commitment to create government jobs for four lakh young people and generate employment opportunities for an additional 10 lakh individuals. The Congress also pledged to enact a minimum support price (MSP) law for farmers based on the recommendations of the Swaminathan Committee, raise Chiranjeevi insurance from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 50 lakh, and establish a new cadre of government jobs at the panchayat level.
Other promises in the manifesto encompass conducting a caste census, reducing the cost of gas cylinders from Rs 500 to Rs 400, implementing the RTE Act to ensure free education up to 12th standard in private educational institutions, and extending the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREGA) and Indira Gandhi Urban Employment from 125 to 150 days.
Additionally, the Congress announced initiatives such as the merchant credit card scheme, providing interest-free loans of up to Rs 5 lakh to small traders and shopkeepers, introducing the fourth pay scale series for government employees, enhancing security measures in villages and urban areas, and enacting the Right to Housing Act.
The manifesto underscores the party’s commitment to strengthening existing schemes while introducing new measures for the overall development of the state.
