New Delhi, Nov 20 — Former Lok Sabha member and veteran actress Vijayashanti, who recently parted ways with the BJP, has been appointed as the Chief Coordinator and Convenor of the campaign committee for the upcoming Telangana Assembly polls by the Congress party.
Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal announced on Saturday that AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed 15 other senior leaders as members in the coordination committee, with Vijayashanti leading the team.
Actress Vijayashanti, who had joined the BJP in 2020, returned to the Congress on Friday in the presence of Kharge during the assembly election campaign. She previously served as the Member of Parliament in the 15th Lok Sabha, representing the Medak constituency from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, now Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
