By train from Mumbai!
Happened to open @zomato and saw this prompt to enter my PNR! pic.twitter.com/5Jo6vJst3S
During his journey from Mumbai to Pune, Gupta noticed a feature on the Zomato app that asked for his Passenger Name Record (PNR). Curious, he decided to try the service and ordered food to be delivered to his seat at Panvel station.
Zomato has partnered with IRCTC to provide food delivery to train passengers at over 500 stations across India. Travelers can order from selected restaurants, with many offering services until 2 am. Orders can be placed up to four days in advance and canceled anytime before the food preparation begins.
Gupta ordered a meal worth ₹465. However, the train was delayed, and his food was ready and waiting at the station before he arrived. Joking about the situation, he posted on X:
“The train is running late, and Zomato says my food is ready and waiting. This is probably the first time I’m making Zomato wait instead!”
While Gupta appreciated the service, he noted that the restaurant didn’t provide cutlery, which Zomato’s guidelines require for train deliveries.
His post, including a video of the delivery person bringing his food, gained over 800,000 views on X. Users praised the feature, with one commenting:
Alright so he is here!

“Zomato’s train food delivery is an amazing initiative. The quality is better than train meals, and you get to choose from hotel-made dishes. Great job by Zomato!”
