The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended some of its new rules for the Indian team to the 10 IPL franchises ahead of the 2025 IPL season. These include mandatory team bus travel for players and a ban on family members entering the dressing rooms, even on non-match days. The goal is to reduce distractions and help players stay focused on their game.

New IPL Rules for 2025

🔹 Team Bus Travel: Players must use the team bus for practice and matches. Teams can travel in two groups if needed.

🔹 Dressing Room Access: Only authorized team staff can enter dressing rooms and the playing area during practice. Family and friends must stay in the hospitality area and travel separately.

🔹 Approval for Extra Support Staff: Teams must get BCCI approval for additional staff like throwdown specialists and net bowlers. Once approved, they will get special access on non-match days.

🔹 No Family or Owners in Dressing Rooms: Families and even team owners will not be allowed inside dressing rooms, even when there is no match.

🔹 Dress Code for Post-Match Presentations: Players must not wear loose or sleeveless jerseys at post-match events.

  • First violation: Warning
  • Second violation: Financial penalty

🔹 No Sitting in Front of LED Boards: Players and support staff cannot sit near advertising LED boards beyond the boundary line. Instead, the sponsorship team will set up designated areas for substitutes with towels and water bottles.

Reactions to the New Rules

These rules are expected to bring more discipline and professionalism to the IPL. While some players and fans support the focus on team unity and concentration, others feel the restrictions might be too strict.

The BCCI believes that by limiting family presence and enforcing strict travel rules, players will be able to focus better and perform at their best. However, only time will tell how these changes impact the teams and the overall IPL experience.
