New Delhi, Oct 4: Launching a scathing attack at Bharatiya Janata Party, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said the Enforcement Directorate’s raid at the residence of AAP MP Sanjay Singh showed the BJP’s desperation.

He said the probe agencies have not recovered a single penny so far in the alleged liquor scam. Kejriwal said, “These people are losing the 2024 Lok Sabha election, that’s why there was a raid on journalists yesterday, and now Sanjay Singh is being targeted. Many more people will be raided until the elections.”

AAP said for the last year over a thousand raids have been conducted arresting many people but no money has been recovered so far. “An investigation has been carried out into this alleged liquor scam for a year, but nothing has been found to date. They will not get anything from Sanjay Singh’s house,” he added.

On the ED raid, Delhi Cabinet Minister Gopal Rai said that investigations and raids by the ED and CBI have been ongoing for the past 15 months.

“The panic of defeat is causing these raids at Sanjay Singh’s place today. The way journalists were targeted on October 3 also indicates an attempt to silence any voice against those in power, which I believe is against democracy,” Rai said.

Another Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said it is “an imaginary scam” that has been under scrutiny for the past 15 months.

“Sanjay Singh’s name was initially included in the charge sheet. Then they said that it was a mistake. In response, Sanjay Singh had also issued a defamation notice. People are being tortured in jail, and subjected to violence. They are being threatened and beaten for giving false statements. All these things have already come to the court,” alleged Bhardwaj.
