Amara Raja wins Gold & Silver awards at Beijing QC competition

Tirupati, Nov 10: The Amara Raja group of industries has won nine gold and one silver award at the 48th International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC), held virtually in Beijing, China.
The Indian conglomerate, with business interests ranging from lead-acid batteries to power conversion products, sheet metal products, precision components, plastic molding, electronic manufacturing services, infrastructure development, industrial services, and food, entered ten teams in the international-level competition.
Up against over 857 international teams comprised of nearly 5,000 participants from 14 countries, the Andhra Pradesh group won a record nine gold and one silver award.
Speaking on the occasion, the group Executive Director, Harshavardhan Gourineni, said the team’s achievements proved that coordinated efforts finally paid off.
Amara Raja Group began incorporating QCCs in 2004, initially starting out with just five circles. Today, nearly 1200 quality control circles comprising 8,000 employees are deployed throughout the group.
It is said that the present achievements would go a long way in instilling a QCC culture, quality improvement, delivery improvement, an improvement in safety and ergonomic standards, and zero rejections.
