Mumbai Nov 1 : The ongoing all-party meeting regarding the Maratha reservation has ended. The leaders of all parties have agreed on giving lasting reservation to the Maratha community. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has requested that Manoj Jarange should give some time to the government. All party leaders have also agreed that Manoj Jarange should call off his fast. The meeting lasted two and a half hours.
As per information from the X handle of CMO Maharashtra, ‘Everyone is unanimous about giving reservation to the Maratha community. The reservation can be given only after fulfilling its legal aspects and all the parties in the state are ready to work together in this regard. Legal action for this should be taken as soon as possible. However, it is necessary to take into account that it is required to give the necessary time. The incidents of violence that have happened and are happening in the state are inappropriate and this is bringing disrepute to the movement. We strongly disapprove of these incidents. An appeal is being made that no one should take up the law in the state, peace and law and order should be maintained in the state. Also, Manoj Jarange Patil is requested to cooperate and withdraw his fast.’ In total, 32 people have signed the resolution.
As per further information, everyone is unanimous about giving reservations to the Maratha community. Lasting reservation can be given only after fulfilling its legal aspects and all the parties in the state are ready to work together in this regard. The Chief Minister’s Office has informed that legal action should be taken as soon as possible.
It is worthy to note that the Backward Classes Commission is working fast for Maratha reservations. Everyone has expressed displeasure due to the violence that occurred during the agitation. A consensus has been reached in the meeting about maintaining law and order. So, the government is now going to take concrete steps.
