Gurugram, April 17 — A 46-year-old air hostess has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by a hospital staff member while she was unconscious and on a ventilator at a private hospital in Gurugram. The alleged incident occurred on April 6, but a formal complaint was filed only after the victim was discharged on April 13.

According to police sources, the woman had arrived in Gurugram for airline training and was staying at a five-star hotel. She reportedly suffered a near-drowning incident in the hotel’s swimming pool and was rushed to a private hospital for emergency treatment. The following day, due to her worsening condition, her husband transferred her to another private hospital located in the Sadar area.

While on life support at the second hospital, the woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a male staff member. In her complaint, the victim stated that she was semi-conscious during the incident and unable to move or call for help. The complaint also noted the presence of two nurses at the time, who allegedly failed to intervene.

Upon regaining full consciousness, the woman informed her husband of the assault. The matter was reported to emergency services, and a formal complaint was lodged at Sadar Police Station on April 14, in the presence of the couple’s legal counsel.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to sexual assault. The victim’s statement has been recorded before a magistrate, and a detailed investigation is currently underway.

“We are taking the case very seriously. CCTV footage is being reviewed, statements from hospital staff are being recorded, and strict legal action will be taken,” said a spokesperson from Gurugram Police.

In an official statement, the hospital confirmed its cooperation with the investigation. “At this point, the allegations have not been substantiated. All relevant documents and CCTV footage have been handed over to the authorities,” the statement said.

The case has sparked widespread outrage, raising concerns over patient safety and accountability within medical institutions.
