Kolhapur, Nov 3: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested two clerks with property tax department of Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3,500 from a complainant.
The alleged accused — Shekhar Arun Patil (26) and Rohit Vinayak Jadhav (32), both clerks (class-3) with property tax department of KMC, had demanded Rs 5,000 as bribe from complainant for registering newly purchased house on his name, sources in ACB said.
Then, the matter was settled at Rs 3,500.
However, complainant informed about this to city unit of ACB, whose team laid a trap at KMC’s Rajarampuri office and caught both Patil and Jadhav red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 3,500 from complainant.
ACB officials have registered a case of bribery against the duo at Rajarampuri police station, sources added.
