Mumbai, Nov 24 — Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President, Nana Patole, launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led government in the state, accusing them of pushing farmers into extreme misery. Patole expressed deep concern over the plight of farmers, stating that it is an unfortunate reality in Maharashtra, a state with a rich history that includes iconic figures like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, Jyotiba Phule, and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Highlighting the distressing situation, Patole claimed that farmers are resorting to selling their organs to repay debts, a desperate measure he attributed to the government’s neglect. He criticized the government for not addressing the challenges faced by farmers, including a lack of fair prices for agricultural produce, mounting debts, and the absence of adequate crop insurance.
Patole accused the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers of making empty promises to farmers while ignoring the genuine issues at hand. He pointed out the failure to provide compensation for unseasonal losses and the promised incentive of Rs 50,000 for loan repayment. Patole condemned the government’s approach, stating that it is evident that the BJP-led state government is anti-farmer.
Despite persistent demands for answers and solutions to farmers’ problems, Patole lamented that the government continues to ignore their pleas. He concluded by expressing concern for the upcoming rabi season, emphasizing that the situation is dire, with farmers unable to recover input costs.
