Mumbai, Nov 23: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Thursday that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to pioneer the ‘Zero Prescription Policy’ among civic bodies nationwide. This groundbreaking initiative aims to provide free health services to the public at BMC hospitals.
To kickstart the implementation of this policy, the Chief Minister directed BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal to present a comprehensive report following a thorough evaluation. The objective is to ensure that underprivileged patients have access to all medical facilities and medications without the need for prescriptions, fostering a system of free healthcare in BMC-run hospitals.
