Hyderabad, Oct 25: In a significant setback for the Telangana BJP, former MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy announced his resignation from the party on Wednesday, seeking to join the Congress.

In a statement released in Hyderabad, Reddy pointed out the prevalent anti-incumbency sentiment in the state, signaling a strong desire for change among the people. He also mentioned the desire to break free from the family rule of Chief Minister KCR. Reddy said he expected his intention to materialise within the next five weeks and pledged to act in harmony with the aspirations of the people.

Reddy said around a year and a half ago, he believed that the BJP could be a viable alternative to the existing BRS leadership. However, as time passed, the BJP’s influence in the state diminished, leading him to conclude that the Congress is now the preferred alternative for the state.

Reddy emphasised that his decision to join the Congress is not driven by personal ambition but by his unwavering commitment to serving the best interests of the people.

“I have never sought any position; my focus has always been on working for the betterment of the people,” Reddy stated.
