Beed, Oct 18: Maharashtra and District Guardian Minister Dhananjay Munde said on Tuesday that to increase income of the district it is necessary to adopt innovative ideas and new skills and for that there is a need for study and training.
Presiding over the district strategic planning meeting here, he said that income can be boosted by studying how to increase farms here by diverting water from Jayakwadi and Krishna basin.
Along with this, new options of bamboo cultivation, sericulture (silk cultivation) can be made available to farmers, he said.
He further suggested that a cluster of fruit juice canning factories can be set up through Farmers Production Organisations (FPOs).
Ambajogai and its surrounding areas can be developed into centres of quality education, the minister said and informed that a medical college can be started on PPP (public-private partnership) model.
Apart from this, in other areas, dhabas, marriage halls in the district can also be used to augument income, he said.
Around 1500 megawatts of electricity can be generated through solar energy in the district, added Munde.
