Pune, Nov 7: The 37th Pune International Marathon, which is known as India’s oldest marathon, will be held on December three.
In order to avoid traffic-related problems in city during the daytime, the race will be flagged off at 0330 hours instead of at midnight as being held for past two years.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Advocate Abhay Chhajed, trustee of Pune Marathon, said that the full marathon of 42.195 km will start off from Sanas Ground Chowk and the runners will cover distance of 21 km in the first round up to Nanded City inner circle and the remaining in second round back to Sanas Ground Chowk.
It will be followed by the half-marathon (21.0975 km) at 0400 hrs, 10 km race at 0600 hrs, 5 km race at 0630 hrs for both men and women’s groups, he said.
This way, all the races would be over by 0800 hours, he informed.
The prize distribution ceremony will be held on conclusion of all races at Sanas Ground at 0800 hrs, Chhajed said.
The winners of the competitions will be awarded cash prizes totally worth Rs 35 lakh by the Pune Municipal Corporation, he added.
