In a meeting held on Thursday in New Delhi, Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol, who also serves as the Pune MP, urged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to introduce a Vande Bharat sleeper train service between Pune and New Delhi.
During the discussion, Mohol suggested launching Vande Bharat Metro services on regional routes like Pune-Solapur, Pune-Nashik, and Pune-Kolhapur to enhance intra-state connectivity. He also pointed out the increasing number of passengers traveling regularly between Pune and Jodhpur and requested the railway minister to consider increasing the frequency of trains on that route.

In addition to rail connectivity, Mohol addressed several important issues concerning Pune’s development. He emphasized the need for the modernization of Pune Akashvani, filling vacant positions in the program division, and ensuring that the broadcasts for Akashvani and Vividh Bharati are managed locally in Pune rather than from Mumbai.
He also highlighted the importance of upgrading the Pune Doordarshan center.
In a post on his X account, Mohol mentioned that Vaishnaw assured him that the necessary instructions had been given to meet his requests.
