Ram Lalla Consecration Anniversary to Be Celebrated on January 11 as 'Pratishtha Dwadashi,' Announces Temple Trust
On January 22, 2024, a special ceremony marked the installation of a 51-inch idol of Ram Lalla in the newly built Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. However, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust has announced that the anniversary of this event will not be celebrated on January 22 each year. Instead, it will be observed on January 11, 2025, based on the Hindu calendar.
The trust explained that the original ceremony took place on Paush Shukla Paksha Dwadashi, also called Kurma Dwadashi, the 12th day of the bright lunar fortnight in the Hindu month of Paush. In 2025, this date falls on January 11, and from now on, the anniversary will be celebrated on this date, referred to as Pratishtha Dwadashi.
The trust shared this update in a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “After discussions with saints, it was decided that the Prana Pratishtha anniversary of Shri Ram Lalla Sarkar will be celebrated every year on Paush Shukla Dwadashi, according to the Hindu calendar.”

Temple Updates and Development
The Ram Temple trust also made several decisions regarding the temple’s development:
- Healthcare Facility: A modern hospital will be built by Apollo Hospital near the Passenger Service Center, covering 3,000 square meters.
- Shelter for Pilgrims: Permanent sheds, 9 meters wide and about 600 meters long, have been installed to provide protection from heat and rain, replacing the earlier temporary German hangers.
The consecration of the idol, created by renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj, was attended by about 8,000 VIPs, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who led the ceremony.

Temple Construction and Design
- The Ram Temple, built in the traditional Nagara architectural style, was initially set for completion by June 2025 but is now expected to finish by September 2025 due to a worker shortage and the replacement of some stones on the first floor.
- Designed by architect Chandrakant B Sompura and his son Ashish, the temple measures 380 feet long, 250 feet wide, and 161 feet tall.
- It has 392 intricately carved pillars, 44 doors, and spans three floors, each 20 feet tall.
- The sanctum features an idol of Shri Ram Lalla in his childhood form, while the first floor houses Shri Ram Darbar.
The temple carvings showcase Hindu gods, goddesses, and deities, making it a symbol of spiritual and cultural significance.
