Engine, 2 coaches of freight train derail in Sonbhadra

Sonbhadra (UP), Oct 5 : In an unfortunate incident, the engine and two bogies of a freight train derailed just 300 meters before reaching Duddhi railway station on the Chopan-Garwah section in Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday. The derailment occurred as the freight train, loaded with dolomite, was en route from Jharkhand to Duddhi.

According to railway sources, the incident occurred at the yard when the train was approaching Duddhi, and the engine and two bogies derailed at the changing point. Prompt action was taken by Station Master Shailesh Kumar, who immediately informed divisional officers at Dhanbad, along with station masters of Chopan and Renukoot.

Railway employees from Renukoot and Chopan rushed to the scene for rescue work. They successfully detached the derailed bogies and moved them towards Mahuli. Senior railway officers, accompanied by an accident assistance train from Dhanbad division and a crane, have arrived at the site. Efforts are underway to bring the engine and the two derailed bogies back on track, ensuring a swift response to the incident.
