Nagpur, Dec 8 – Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday wrote a letter to NCP (Ajit Pawar) chief and his Cabinet colleague Ajit Pawar requesting him not to take Nawab Malik into “Mahayuti” (grand alliance).
In the letter, he said that former minister and NCP MLA Malik, who is on bail, joined the Ajit Pawar group, sat on the ruling bench and participated in the legislative work.
As a result, BJP was also criticised by people, he noted.
“Let me make it clear at the outset that we have no personal enmity or grudge against him. But, in view of the manner in which he was accused, we are of the opinion that it would not be appropriate to take him into the Mahayuti,” Fadnavis said.
“He is currently out on bail on medical grounds. If the charges against him are not proved, we must welcome him. But we are of the opinion that it will not be right to make him a part of the grand alliance when there are such allegations,” he said.
“We will not be able to agree with the views of the then chief minister and Maha Vikas Aghadi government to keep him as a minister even though he was arrested on charges of having links with traitors. I hope you will note our sentiments,” Fadnavis added.
