Karjat (Maharashtra), Dec.01: NCP (Ajit Pawar Group) state president Sunil Tatkare on Thursday appealed to party activists to fulfil Ajit Pawar’s dream of building a new Maharashtra.
Addressing a gathering at an ideological brainstorming camp here in Raigad district, Tatkare said if different parties of different ideologies come together in the country, then “what is wrong if we participate in the grand coalition government preserving the legacy of great people like Savitri Phule and B R Ambedkar?”
He said no one can forget Ajit Pawar’s contribution to the NCP, which grew because of him. The party wants to move forward in the future by taking a new direction, he said. He claimed that 43 of the 53 NCP MLAs have rallied behind Pawar, now the state’s Deputy Chief Minister.
Tatkare reiterated the party’s position that the entire Maratha community should get reservations.
“We want to convey to the people how right the stand taken by Ajitdada is. However, some people criticise that Dada took a stand for power and fear of the system. He has given a befitting reply to them,” he said.
Pawar hoisted the flag at the beginning of the camp.
