Hyderabad, Nov16: Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu graced an event in Hyderabad where he unveiled a book titled “Live For A Legacy,” a Perspective of a Cancer Surgeon, Dr. Chinnababu Sunkavalli. The book, comprising 24 chapters, was narrated to Prof Arun Tiwari, a former missile scientist.
The 292-page book is divided into four sections: Becoming, Science, Treatment, and Containing Cancer. It provides insights into early detection, daily exercise, and healthy eating for maintaining a sound body and mind. Dr. Sunkavalli emphasizes that cancer is now the most curable chronic disease but often fatal due to delayed diagnosis.
During the event, Venkaiah Naidu urged doctors to create awareness about cancer and healthy lifestyles by visiting neighborhoods and rural areas. He highlighted the significance of early detection, emphasizing that cancer is no longer a death sentence with advanced technologies and competent medical care.
Dr. Chinnababu, a Robotic Cancer Surgeon, researcher, and social entrepreneur, stressed the need for collective efforts to prevent and detect cancer early, citing a 33% reduction in cancer-related deaths in Western countries due to early detection and awareness.
The book addresses the science behind cancer’s evolution over a century, presents treatment options, and offers hope. It covers topics like the WHO’s goal of eliminating cervical cancer by 2030 through HPV vaccination, emphasizing the need for early prevention and treatment.
The book launch event saw the presence of over 200 distinguished individuals from the medical fraternity. The book, hailed for its candid presentation of cancer science to dispel fear and raise awareness, aims to inspire the next generation of cancer surgeons.
