Hyderabad, Nov 4 – The upcoming Telangana Assembly elections on November 30 are expected to see a significant influence from young voters. The latest electoral roll data released by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj indicates that around 9.10 lakh voters, including approximately 5.21 lakh male voters aged between 18-19 years, have been added to the electorate.
Out of the total 3.21 crore voters in Telangana, consisting of 1.60 crore males, more than 62.58 lakh voters fall in the 20-29 age group, while about 1 crore voters are in the 30-40 age group. Additionally, around 1.08 crore voters belong to the 41-60 age group, and approximately 41.93 lakh voters are above 60 years of age.
Comparing the current data to the 2018 elections, where the total electorate was about 2.80 crore, including 1.41 crore males, it is evident that there has been a significant increase in the number of voters, particularly in the young age groups. The role of these young voters is anticipated to be crucial in shaping the outcome of the upcoming elections.
