Srinagar, Nov 1: In a tragic incident, militants targeted and shot dead Head Constable Ghulam Mohammad Dar outside his home in Wailoo Kralpora, Baramulla. The deceased was the sole breadwinner for his family of eight, consisting of his wife and seven daughters.

According to the police, Dar, posted in Srinagar, had spent the entire day at home due to ongoing construction work. In the evening, he was attacked upon returning home and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Expressing devastation, Dar’s eldest daughter, Ulfat, stated, “Except for our father, we have no male members in the family. And he too was killed.” The tragic incident has left seven daughters orphaned, and the family is expected to face significant difficulties.

A wreath-laying ceremony was held to pay homage to Head Constable Dar, attended by civil and police officers. The targeted attack on Dar follows similar incidents in the region, raising concerns about security despite claims that militancy is on the decline.
