Chhatrapati Sambhaijnagar, Nov 1 (UNI) – The Maratha reservation movement has escalated into violence across Marathwada, prompting the state government to call for an immediate all-party meeting on Wednesday at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai. Notably, leaders from the Thackeray group have not been invited, and Ambadas Danve will attend as the Leader of the Opposition. Curfew orders have been issued in many Marathwada areas, including Beed, Dharashiv, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, where curfew is imposed until November 15.

The decision aims to control the situation arising from the agitation of the Maratha-Dhangar community. Meanwhile, a 30-year-old farmer, Balu Narayan Bhokre, from Dhamangaon village in Phulambri taluka, committed suicide by hanging from a tree, citing the distressing situation of Maratha activist Manoj Jarange-Patil, who has been fasting for the last eight days for Maratha reservation.

The state cabinet accepted the Justice Shinde committee’s preliminary report, which outlines the procedure for issuing caste certificates to eligible members of the Maratha-Kunbi and Kunbi-Maratha castes. Chief Minister Shinde also announced the appointment of a three-member committee of former judges to provide guidance on extending reservation to the Maratha community and to address the ongoing case in the Supreme Court.
