Himachal CM inaugurates and lays the foundation stones of Rs 76.57 cr

Shahpur Oct 23: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development works worth Rs 76 crore 57 lakh during his one-day visit to Shahpur assembly constituency of Kangra district on Sunday.

During this, he laid the foundation stone of Sewage Drainage Scheme and Enhanced Drinking Water Scheme Nagar Panchayat Shahpur to be constructed at a cost of Rs 56.56 crore in Shahpur. He also laid the foundation stone of water treatment plant to improve the quality of water in various schemes under Shahpur Assembly at a cost of Rs 13.71 crore.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the replacement work of old pumping machinery of various lifted drinking water schemes under Shahpur Assembly constituency at a cost of Rs 5 crore.

He laid the foundation stone of Farmer Facilitation Center Building Shahpur to be constructed at a cost of Rs 50 lakh under Crop Diversification Promotion Project-2. He also inaugurated the additional building of Shahpur Rest House constructed with about Rs 80 lakh.

Addressing the people at Dussehra ground in Shahpur, the Chief Minister said that no let up will be allowed in the development of Shahpur. He said that new dimensions of development will be established in Kangra in future. A milk plant is being set up at a cost of Rs 250 crore in Dhaagwar of the district, due to which farmers and cattle herders will get good prices for their products. He said that the government has made a budget provision of Rs 3,000 crore for the expansion of Kangra Airport and rehabilitation of the displaced people.

He said that work is being done on many projects to make Kangra district a tourism capital.

Zoological park will be constructed in Bankhandi, Dehra at a cost of Rs 400 crore. He said that Water sports and allied activities will be started to promote tourism activities in the Pong Dam area. Strong efforts are being made to make the state economically strong. He said that Himachal Pradesh will be made a self-reliant and prosperous state in the next ten years.

The Chief Minister said that former Chief Minister of the state Shanta Kumar is a respectable leader and always speaks the right thing. He said that Shanta Kumar has also praised the efforts of the state government during the disaster. He said that the state government has sent the estimate of loss of Rs 12 thousand crore to the central government for disaster relief. He said that the state has not yet been provided a special relief package by the Centre. He said that only that amount has been made available to the state from the Center under disaster relief, which is provisioned in the annual budget.

He said that if the Central Government had declared a national disaster and relief package in the state and the opposition had supported the government in the disaster package in the Assembly, he would have thanked the Central Government. He said that apart from state MP Pratibha Singh, no MP has put forth the rights of the state before the Centre.

Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu presented cheques of assistance for skill development, higher education and house construction to nine destitute children under the Chief Minister Sukh-Aashray Yojana in Shahpur.

The Chief Minister assured to fulfill every demand presented by local MLA Kewal Singh Pathania.

Earlier, Shahpur MLA Kewal Singh Pathania welcomed Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on his visit to Shahpur. He expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for gifting ten development schemes worth about Rs 77 crore in Shahpur Assembly constituency and providing 6 Kanal land for ECHS. He said that during the tenure of the present government, development in Shahpur Assembly is progressing at a fast pace.

On this occasion, In the memory of late R.K. Mahajan, his family donated two lakhs, IMC and ITI. Shahpur donated one lakh, Dronacharya College Rait donated Rs 1 lakh, Rajput Sabha Shahpur donated Rs 51 thousand, Karan Pintu of Rehlu donated Rs 71 thousand, D.R. Sharma of Shahpur Residential Welfare Association donated Rs 11 thousand, Yoga Guide Foundation H.P. . 21 thousand rupees, Jitendra, Udayalak Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Ritu and Rajni Devi donated 21 thousand rupees to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

After this, the Chief Minister also enjoyed the World Cup cricket match being played between India and New Zealand at Dharamshala Cricket Stadium and encouraged the Indian team.
