Vijayawada, Oct 23: Telugu Desam Party National President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday claimed that he is in the hearts of the people though he is in the Rajahmundry central prison.
Naidu wrote an open letter to the people of the state and the TDP released it to the media here.
In the letter, the TDP Chief claimed that though he is in prison after his arrest in the alleged multi-crore Skill Development Scam case, in fact he is in the hearts of people of the state.
“I am in your determination to end the anarchic rule of Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. People are my family and people’s welfare is my goal,” he stated.
“The 45 years of my public life is appearing before my eyes inside the prison walls. Throughout my political career, the development and welfare of the Telugu people were my goals. You are witness to this along with God,” Naidu said.
The ruling party leaders, with the fear of defeat in the next elections, confined him in the prison and took him away from the people, he deplored.
“I may not move among you now but I will be everywhere where there is development. I will be remembered whenever people talk about welfare. People cannot be taken away from me even for a minute. Efforts were made to brand me as corrupt by hatching conspiracy. The values I believe in and credibility can never be erased,” the former CM observed, adding that shackles cannot bind my will.
The wall of prison cannot dilute his self-confidence, he claimed. “I will not commit blunder and will not allow others to do the same,” Naidu said.
He said that he would release the manifesto of the TDP as soon as he was released from the prison.
“I will work with over enthusiasm for the progress of the people and the future of the children,” Naidu said.
The TDP Chief said in the letter that he had asked his wife N Bhuvaneswari to go to people in the hard time to tell people the facts for which she agreed.
She would console those who died with the shock of his arrest, Naidu added.
It may be mentioned here that Chandrababu Naidu, who served the state as Chief Minister for 14 years and Leader of the Opposition for another 14 years, has been in the Central prison since September 9 in the alleged Skill Development scam case.
